Shaanxi forum accelerates development of world-class talent hub

The Shaanxi 6th Silk Road Youth Scholars Forum and the Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Information (ICAI 2024), hosted by the Organization Department of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and organized by Xidian University, commenced on Saturday at the university in Xi'an in Northwest China.

The forum is held the Invengo Gymnasium of Xidian University.

Zhao Yide, the secretary of the Shaanxi Provincial Party Committee, emphasized Shaanxi's ambition to lead by example in the western region. The region's progress is fueled by scientific and technological innovation, bolstered by a robust industrial system, empowered by internal and external openness, and enhanced by the appeal of its livable and business-friendly environment, all steadily on the rise.

Zhao extended an invitation to talented young people from both domestic and international arenas to turn their attention towards Shaanxi, embark on entrepreneurial ventures within the province, seize developmental opportunities and collectively forge a brighter future in Shaanxi.

During the forum's inauguration, Ren Xiaolong, the Secretary of the Party Committee of Xidian University, delivers an address.

Ren Xiaolong underscored the pivotal role of digitization and intelligence as formidable drivers propelling the advancement of new high-quality productivity. The pivotal question facing universities today is whether they can nurture world-class talent and achieve groundbreaking feats essential for the information age.

"Xidian must uphold the unique characteristics of the information science discipline, expedite the establishment of a top-tier discipline system, prioritize talent cultivation, and concentrate on fostering more trailblazing figures in the realm of information and leading figures for the nation," said Ren.

Sune Svanberg, in his address, highlighted Xidian University's standing as a premier national institution in the field of information and intelligence within China. The university has garnered notable accomplishments in electronic information and has nurtured a plethora of exceptional talents. The forum offered a valuable platform for experts and scholars to engage in knowledge exchange and mutual learning, he said.

Following the opening ceremony, the ICAI 2024 Academician Forum on Information and Intelligent Development takes place.

Chinese and foreign academicians engaged in discussions covering a spectrum of topics, including research on laser spectroscopy, infrared imaging technology, microwave wireless energy transmission, and high-entropy new energy technology.

The forum also hosted academician roundtable sessions and parallel forums such as the Mathematics and Statistics Forum and the Intelligent Era and Social Development Forum. Through a series of scholarly activities, the event delved deeply into a multitude of cutting-edge subjects in the realm of science and technology.
